Why #RelationshipGoals are a lie

It's impossible to scroll through Instagram, Twitter or Facebook without coming across a post of a happy couple. While these pictures may seem cute, they can also be fake or misleading about how that particular relationship is actually going in real life.

It's important to take social media for what it is, an outlet to post the idealized version of your life. Everyone on social media is hand-picking the moments of their lives they want you to see. It doesn't matter if a relationship is going well or not, that couple can post whatever romantic or misleading pictures they want.
The happiest couples could be the ones not posting on social media at all. After all, wouldn't they be the pairs who are the least connected to their phones? Unplugging and not posting could be a great sign of a healthy relationship.
Never compare you and your significant other to the #RelationshipGoals you see online because you never know what another couple's relationship is actually like. It doesn't matter how many kissing pictures or posed photo booth prints they share with the world. Online presences can be very deceiving and you shouldn't ever let that affect how you look at your own relationship.
Remember: beach pictures and posed embraces in pictures are not nearly as important as what happens behind closed doors. It doesn't matter how "photogenic" your relationship is. Your happiness as a couple is what matters.
